It is amazing that ONE a whole nation away should be the first to protest this clear-cut violation of individual rights. Today's papers are crammed with screaming headlines about the blessedness of Our Way of Life, yet the entire nation and all of Miami sits quietly by as a minor police official violates the Constitution. Unless this man hasn't the proper background for his job he knows that NO ONE CAN BE ARRESTED OR DETAINED ON SUSPICION WITHOUT SPECIFIC CHARGES BEING PLACED AGAINST HIM. IT IS ILLEGAL TO QUESTION A DEFENDANT BEFORE DETERMINING WHETHER HE WISHES TO SPEAK THROUGH HIS ATTORNEY. IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL TO HIDE OR WITHHOLD HIS RIGHTS FROM HIM.
